While college counseling officially begins in grade 11, through our advisory program and our commitment to maintaining a close-knit community, students are supported in defining and achieving their personal and academic goals from the day they enter our school. Students are also encouraged to think about summer programs that allow them to explore their talents.

Grade 9

Students at St. Stephen's are strongly encouraged to contribute to the life of the school through participation in extracurricular programs. College preparation for a freshman includes coming through with a strong academic performance that is based on good study habits and skills.  It’s important to note that US colleges will consider a student's freshman year performance when reviewing a student’s transcript.

Grade 10

Again, the primary responsibility of sophomores is to build upon their freshman year's academic performance. The sophomore year constitutes the first "trend year" in which a college will begin to see academic patterns.

Depending on their academic performance, some students may be ready to take the PSAT in October.

Many St. Stephen's students elect to participate in a career profile exercise that examines students' skills and interests and provides a detailed analysis of how students' personal and academic potential match career choices.
