This academic year, St. Stephen's is pleased to announce four new members of faculty and staff.
Joining the faculty are:
Chris Byck, who will be teaching IB Economics and Theory of Knowledge this year. Chris hails from the US East Coast and has worked in Venezuela, Jordan, and Vietnam. With a BA in Politics & Philosophy and a Masters of Education, Chris is also a Doctor of Jurisprudence and has worked in the office of a Congressman -- and he has interviewed both Gerald Ford and Buzz Aldrin!
Lucas Mennella, who will work in the College Counselling Office and teach two sections of IB History. He holds a BA in History and a European Masters in Intercultural Education. Lucas is no newcomer to Rome or Italy, having spent the last year working at Rome International School and one year in Bologna in 2006. He has also lived and worked in France, Germany and, most recently, Japan. He speaks fluent French, German and Italian. He is an examiner for IB History and the Extended Essay.
New staff additions include:
Monica Barden, who joins us in the Admissions Office as a day and boarding student recruiter. She hails most recently from Ambrit International School, where she was Head of Student Services, and, earlier, the Primary Principal. Monica held a number of positions during her 11 years at the Mabin School in Toronto, including Assistant Head of School and Director of Admissions. Monica has a BA in Psychology and an MA in Child Study and Education. Monica is the mother of Michael Simunec, a rising junior.
Natalie Edwards, who joins us in her role as an RA and Dean’s Office assistant. A 2018 graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, she double majored in Art History & Archaeology and Economics. Natalie is familiar with our program, attending St. Stephen’s as a boarder in 11th grade, and later returning to Bologna for a semester abroad during university. Natalie is fluent in Italian.
