Welcome to St. Stephen's School, Rome's only American international IB World School, located in the historic city center. As a non-profit, co-educational day and boarding school, we bring together a diverse community of engaged, English-speaking students from across the globe. Thank you for your interest—we are excited to learn more about your family and to guide you through our admissions process, which we've broken down into three simple steps.
Stage 1: Submit your Application
1. Complete our online Application Form
2. Pay the 200 euro non-refundable fee. Payment information can be found below.
3. Submit all forms and documentation required on the checklist to complete your Application before January 19th, 2026.
Stage 2: Attend an In-Person or Virtual Open House
We look forward to showing you our school and introducing you to our teachers, administrators, and students during one of our in-person or online Open Houses. Please choose the date that best suits your schedule:
1. Wednesday, October 22nd, at 2:30-4:30 pm- in person
2. Friday, November 28th, at 2:30-4:30 pm- in person
3. Wednesday, January 7th, from 16:30 CET online
Stage 3: Take our Admissions Test and Interview
1. We will offer three in-person testing opportunities throughout the school year on the following dates and times for day applicants. The test measures cognitive potential rather than learned knowledge, so there is no preparation required prior to testing. For students applying from outside of Italy, we will arrange an alternate test date with your current school.
Monday, November 3rd from 2:30 pm-4:30 pm
Wed, December 3rd from 5:00 pm-7:00 pm
Saturday, January 17th at 9:00 am.
2. Schedule an Interview
Once you have completed the Admission Test, we will schedule an interview for you with a member of our Admissions Committee. Boarding applicants will have an interview with one of our Boarding Faculty.
Completing the application process does not automatically guarantee enrollment. All documents must be received before the application can be processed. Each applicant file is reviewed by an Admissions Committee, which will make the final decision. Please note that decision timelines can vary based on the grade level and the volume of applications we receive. We are committed to providing you with an update at the earliest opportunity and will be in touch promptly if we need any more details from you.
For successful applicants, enrollment confirmation is contingent upon receipt of a non-refundable deposit, submission of the final school transcript to show successful completion of the current school year, receipt of a duly completed student health form and medical insurance attestation (for boarders), plus submission of the original copy of the enrollment contract. For any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us at admissions@sssrome.it. We look forward to working with you.
St. Stephen's School admits qualified students of any race, colour, ethnic origin, disability, religion, sexual orientation, and gender identity.
St. Stephen's School is an accredited four-year international high school. It offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme, which is taught over the final two years. Participation for the full two years is mandatory, and there are no supplementary exams.
Italian nationals must follow a specific study plan approved by the Italian Ministry of Education. Upon successful completion of this MIM-approved IB Diploma, the credential is legalized with an apostille and is fully recognized in Italy.
While some Italian high schools are moving to a four-year model, the vast majority are still five years. Therefore, a student transferring from a standard five-year Italian liceo must complete a total of five years of secondary education.
Submit your application and remit the non-refundable application fee of €200. You can pay by credit card online after you submit your application or via bank transfer to:
