You might want to enroll in a once-in-a-lifetime experience! For over a decade now, St Stephen's has been running its own Arts & Humanities program. Chair of the English Department Leon Maggio, who has been in charge of the program since 2017, will begin welcoming students for the 2018 summer session on July 22nd. Classes and activities will run through to August 4th.
Open to students ages 13 to 18, the two-week Arts & Humanities summer program offers courses taught by the distinguished faculty of St. Stephen's School, along with exceptional local teachers.
Students may enroll in a language course (Italian or Latin), a core course (focusing on ancient Rome or Renaissance Art) and an elective course (course choices include Creative Writing and 2D/3D Studio Art). There are breaks between classes, and a study hall period in the afternoons. The school's library and computer labs are open and available to students throughout the day. Also included is an evening Cultural Program with events held on-site around the city of Rome, such as the opera and other musical and theatrical performances where the backdrop is Rome itself, outings to important landmarks in the city opened for special evening visits, and excursions to different neighborhood and ice cream shops (gelaterie) in Rome.
Parents and students should make sure to check the End of Year Program of Events. This includes everything from activities that begin on Wednesday, May 30th through Graduation, exam schedules and the last day of school.
