St. Stephen's Has a New Summer Program!

ITALIAN IMMERSION SUMMER PROGRAM in ROME

The 2019 Italian Immersion Arts & Humanities Program dates:

June 16 - June 29, 2019

Fee: 2.800 Euro

Open to students ages 13 to 17, the two-week Arts & Humanities Italian summer program offers courses taught by the distinguished faculty of St. Stephen's School, along with exceptional local teachers.

Mornings and afternoons are packed with visits to Rome’s main archaeological sites, monuments, churches, and museums- examining the context of each in terms of Roman society, religion, history, and urban development.

Students will venture out in the cooler morning hours to explore an area in Rome of particular artistic and historical interest. Returning for lunch on campus and a short rest, afternoons will then be dedicated to their chosen elective class, followed by Italian Conversation. There will be free time in the late afternoon for a supervised study hall, sports or relaxing before dinner and evening activities

Summer 2019 core courses feature Renaissance/Baroque Art History and Ancient Roman Topography (a St. Stephen's School signature course). Both courses are conducted in the historical center of Rome.

Elective courses include Creative Writing, Latin, and Drawing & Sketching Rome.

This session also includes evening and weekend Cultural Programs. Events are held on-site around the city of Rome, outings to important landmarks in the city opened for special evening visits, and excursions to different neighborhood and ice cream shops (gelaterie) in Rome. There will also be a day trip to Pompeii and Sorrento during the weekend of June 21-22.

Before You Take Off for Summer Vacation, Take a Copy of the Cortile Magazine with You!

The Spring/Summer 2018 issue of The Cortile is available online.  You may access your copy by clicking here.

Our Head's Corner provides information about what's in store.

As the 2017-18 school year comes to a close, students, faculty and staff are looking forward to enjoying the carefree days of summer. With IB exams and graduation behind them, eighty St. Stephen’s seniors are contemplating a variety of options, creative endeavors, stimulating challenges, and all that awaits them at university. But before new beginnings and summer holidays, there’s one more thing we hope you’ll do: read the latest issue of The Cortile magazine!

Our idea for this edition started off with wanting to promote the exceptional writing, design and artistic talent within our current students and parents, as well as our alumni and former parents. As usual, we were delightfully surprised by the extraordinary submissions we received. As a result, there’s so much in store for you in our Spring/Summer issue, starting with a compelling selection from our Creative Writing students, winners of the Scholastic Writing Awards, inspired as always by the Arts Department’s Creative Writing teacher and award-winning author and poet, Moira Egan.
