ITALIAN IMMERSION SUMMER PROGRAM in ROME
The 2019 Italian Immersion Arts & Humanities Program dates:
June 16 - June 29, 2019
Fee: 2.800 Euro
Open to students ages 13 to 17, the two-week Arts & Humanities Italian summer program offers courses taught by the distinguished faculty of St. Stephen's School, along with exceptional local teachers.
Mornings and afternoons are packed with visits to Rome’s main archaeological sites, monuments, churches, and museums- examining the context of each in terms of Roman society, religion, history, and urban development.
Students will venture out in the cooler morning hours to explore an area in Rome of particular artistic and historical interest. Returning for lunch on campus and a short rest, afternoons will then be dedicated to their chosen elective class, followed by Italian Conversation. There will be free time in the late afternoon for a supervised study hall, sports or relaxing before dinner and evening activities
Summer 2019 core courses feature Renaissance/Baroque Art History and Ancient Roman Topography (a St. Stephen's School signature course). Both courses are conducted in the historical center of Rome.
Elective courses include Creative Writing, Latin, and Drawing & Sketching Rome.
This session also includes evening and weekend Cultural Programs. Events are held on-site around the city of Rome, outings to important landmarks in the city opened for special evening visits, and excursions to different neighborhood and ice cream shops (gelaterie) in Rome. There will also be a day trip to Pompeii and Sorrento during the weekend of June 21-22.
