Joe's Odyssey is 24 songs inspired by Odysseus' famous exploits and represents in a contemporary musical mode both the abridged plot and the performance circumstances of Homer's original oral composition of the Odyssey. Joe Goodkin has a Bachelor's Degree in Classics from UW-Madison and has performed his Odyssey over 300 times in 42 U.S. states. The performance runs around 40 minutes and is followed by a robust audience discussion.

During his first European tour, Joe Goodkin will come to Rome as a guest of the Lyceum, our Institute for Classical Studies. As such, he will also visit classes on Monday 8 and Tuesday 9 November. He will meet with our English 1 students who are reading the Odyssey as well as with our Classical Greek, CGRS, and Music students. An exciting event to be looking forward to right after Fall Break.
