At the core of the St. Stephen's educational experience lies a profound commitment to global citizenship—a principle beautifully realized through our Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS) and Service Learning programs. For nearly two decades, these initiatives have transcended the traditional classroom, encouraging students to engage meaningfully with the world both locally in Rome and across the globe.
Through authentic service learning, our students step outside their comfort zones to confront complex global challenges and cultivate deep empathy. Closer to home, this takes the form of vital local engagement, such as volunteering at the Termini Soup Kitchen or supporting the Joel Nafuma Refugee Center. Nationally and internationally, the program extends to transformative experiential journeys—from working with migrant communities in Lampedusa to sustainable building and teaching projects during our summer service trips to Senegal and Rwanda. Far from mere "destination travel," these encounters are collaborative partnerships designed to foster mutual respect, resilience, and a lifelong dedication to advocacy.
The spirit of student agency at St. Stephen's is perhaps most vibrant within our diverse array of extracurricular clubs and activities. Designed to let students explore their unique passions, build leadership skills, and foster lasting relationships, our clubs offer a space for every interest.

By initiating, leading, and sustaining these clubs, St. Stephen’s students do not simply participate in school culture—they actively create it.
Students learn about gardening, manage the school gardens, organize clean-ups and environmental activities and outdoor excursions and activities.
Students volunteer at a privately run soup kitchen in Piazza San Lorenzo in Lucina. Starting at 4 pm and ending at 10 pm, students prepare, cook, and serve dinner to those who are poor, homeless, and suffering.
Students serve food to Rome's homeless population once a week.

Students work on various projects involving math and problem-solving, and prepare for the annual ISMTF maths competition. Service credits given to student leaders of these clubs.
Students will tutor their peers in the Foundations of Science course, Chemistry 1 course, and the IB Chemistry courses.

This club aims to make people closer to Italian culture, promoting cultural activities such as attending theatre plays and organizing speeches of important Italian writers. Service credits are given to student leaders of this club.
Photography and Videography enthusiasts create both artistic and school-related photo projects, films and yearbook for the school.
Students write articles of various subjects for this Digital and print publication. Service credits are given to student leaders of this club and to those actively participating in the club.
This club gathers talented musicians, performers, and composers around the school to explore the deeply enriching world of music.
All the events are organized in order to raise funds for our project in Gorée Island (Sénégal.) Service credits given to student leaders of this club.
iLabs will work on several projects this year, focusing on robotics and drones, 3D design and printing, and virtual and augmented realities. Projects will center on community needs and the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN.
Debate is a club where students gather to learn valuable argumentative and public speaking skills in order to debate current events. Service credits given to student leaders of this club.
Food Ambassadors give feedback and input on meals, menu ideas, and participate actively in the food program by collecting information from students. Meetings are once a week to suggest and review new information.
Club that will help organize awareness and funds for the Joel Nafuma Refugee Center located in the center of Rome.
Cultural exchange in Spanish between students from St. Stephen’s and students from Colegio Americano del Sur, in Guatemala. Aside from earning CAS credits, the club can also earn academic credits for students in Spanish 3 and 4.
This club, led by student ambassadors, fosters community values throughout the school and celebrates cultural events.
This club meets weekly during intervallo and then schedules monthly philosophy-focused debates after school on a date and topic that is decided by the group.
